Martin Liss (NRJ, Berlin)
Martin Liss (M.A.) is General Manager of ENERGY Berlin, the German flagship station of Europe’s largest radio-based enterprise, NRJ S.A. Martin joined ENERGY / NRJ in the autumn of 2008, after having gained vast experience in digital media as Director Content for MFD, Germany’s first nationwide broadcasting platform, providing mobile TV and radio to one of the biggest media markets in the world.
Before joining MFD, Martin Liss worked for almost six years as Creative Director and Vice Program Director at bigFM, one of Germany’s largest commercial CHR radio networks. He then already had been on the air for many years, as a radio journalist, sports personality, prime-time dj and news anchor. At Hit-Radio Antenne Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony), he had later started taking responsibility for strategic matters, as Head of On Air Promotions.
Along the way, Martin Liss won several prizes for sales promotions and marketing campaigns, as well as for starting the innovation “visual radio”, a 3G / UMTS based mobile streaming service which links the audio programme with pictures, information and commercial download options, all on the user’s mobile phone.
Martin Liss was born in 1968, studied English and German philology at Freiburg University, from where he received an M.A. in linguistics after completing a master thesis on the role of short-term memory in the process of human speech production and recognition. He lives in Berlin, Germany, with his wife and calls sailing, travelling and music his hobbies.
