Kurt Hanson is publisher of “RAIN: Radio And Internet Newsletter” (www.kurthanson.com), the daily, web-based newsletter for the fast-growing field of Internet radio.
Concurrently, Hanson is CEO of AccuRadio (www.accuradio.com), one of the world’s leading personalizable Internet radio brands. Hanson is a leading expert in the field of Internet radio. As a popular keynote speaker, he has given his “State of the Industry Address” speech on the future of radio at conferences around the world, and is quoted regularly by top news sources including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, USA Today, Chicago Tribune, The Globe and Mail, and cable channels CNN and CNBC.
RAIN also hosts an annual series of conferences on the subject of Internet radio (“RAIN Summits”) that have been held in Las Vegas, Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Minneapolis, and Toronto.
Hanson developed his reputation and expertise within the radio industry as founder and CEO of Strategic Media Research (1980-2000), a market research firm respected throughout the radio industry for its music research program and its ratings product, which he built into a $10 million business. In high school, college, and throughout graduate school, Hanson worked at various major radio stations, including WOKY/ Milwaukee, WLS/Chicago, WDAI/Chicago, and WLUP/Chicago.
He holds a B.A. and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.
