Kari Slaatsveen (NRK, Norway)
Kari Slaatsveen has since 1993 developed and hosted many of NRK’s most popular radio talk shows.
Slaatsveen revitalized Norwegian humor radio in the nineties with the radio program ”Irma 1000”, and Norwegian mornings became funnier and more surreal with her show “Holger Nielsens Metode” from 1999-2003.
Kari Slaatsveen has later years gathered listeners for NRK’s P1 with her own music hour “Englefjes” and the surreal “Kveldsmat”.
Many of her listeners today have been dedicated followers since 1993.
“ My listeners grew beards, got kids, got divorced, took over the family farm, became doctors and lost their hair while listening to me. I am proud of that.”
Parallel to her career in radio, NRK Television 1 has presented Kari hosting award winning documentaries and representing the Red Party in the Norwegian version of:
If I Ruled The World; “Løvebakken”.
Kari is a terrible ballet dancer with an average singing voice, but is immensely popular doing just that, touring the country either with her muse companion Ingrid Bjørnov, or clowning around on her own.
Kari links intelligent observation to absurd stream of consciousness with impeccable musicality and comic timing.
