Barcelona really has it all. Design, architecture, museums, art and culture, food, shopping, beaches, nightlife – you name it. It is the perfect destination for a weekend getaway, and a wonderful place to visit for both business and pleasure.

La Boqueria - the colourfull market close to Las Ramblas. Here you can indulge yourself in fresh meat, vegetables, fish and fruit. And if you are lucky, you may get a table at one of the many Tapas bars inside in the market. You just have to sit on a barchair and eat side by side with the other guests. But that`s the way they do it in Barcelona! Just go along with it. You will have great fun!

Las Ramblas is the most famous pedestrian street in Barcelona. Always crowded with people. Watch your wallet and enjoy the endless variety of street artists and human statues.

You cannot help being impressed when you watch them sitting or standing in the sun for hours on end - without moving a muscle.

In the summer La Barceloneta is a wonderful beach just a ten minutes´ walk from the end of Las Ramblas. And even though March is not the hottest time of the year, it can still be nice in the beginning of spring.

But if you prefere more cultural pastimes, Barcelona offers some of the most spectacular architecture in Spain, regardless whether you prefer modern architecture or art nouveau, which the city is so famous for. Gaudi’s masterpieces are just as stunning as imagined, and well worth a visit. Like Casa Batló in Passeig de Gracia.

But many of us, when we come to a big city, like to go on our own and discover the small shops, bookstores and galleries. Or we just want to feel the atmosphere of the city and watch people.Strolling around the old town you’ll feel the Mediterranean lifestyle in the walls and it doesn’t seem to have changed much in the last couple of centuries.

And nowhere else in Barcelona better encapsulates the city’s history, religious art, guilds and the monarchs who governed the city through the ages, than the cathedral. This area is full of sights and museums.

The Museu Picasso is also in the old town, housed in five Catalan-Gothic-style palazzos dating from the 13th and 14th centuries. The permanent collection comprises over 3,800 works from different periods, with particular emphasis on works from his formative years and youth. The Museum Picasso also features the extraordinary Las Meninas series, works from the Blue Period.

In Barcelona, you don't have to choose between going shopping or sightseeing. Wherever you go, you'll see that shops are part of the city's life. And while you discover unforgettable sights, you'll be welcomed by window displays with leading international brands, modern designer shops, as well as traditional shops that have been there since time immemorial. Window shopping in the famous designer stores is pure pleasure by itself as you walk up the Paseo de Gracia. If you love interiors and contemporary items for the home, Vinçon, located on the same street, is a must.
In the parallel street of Rambla de Catalunya, you will find all the famous ready-to-wear brands such as Zara, Desigual, Massimo Dutti etc lined up.

The Fundació Joan Miró is located in Montjuïc Park in a magnificent Mediterranean-style building designed by Josep Lluís Sert, and houses the most important public collection of works by Joan Miró. From the rooftop you have a magnificent view of the city.
A museum worth visiting in the middle of the shopping area is The Fundació Antoni Tàpies, housed in one of Barcelona’s most important modernista landmarks designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner. The museum showcases one of the largest collections of modern and contemporary artworks by the Catalan artist.

The Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA) is located right in Barcelona centre. The building was designed by the North-American architect Richard Meier. The MACBA brings together a major collection of works covering the production of art over the past 50 years

And this is where you enter when you arrive at the Radiodays Europe Conference 2012, the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (also known by its acronym, CCCB) which is one of the most visited exhibition and arts centres in the city of Barcelona Welcome to Barcelona. We'll see you there in March!
